The cost of living in Bratislava is less expensive than
in Vienna Austria (one hour away) and other European capital cities.
Tourists can consequently find quite a few bargains in the local shops.
The Slovak Republic will be adopt the Euro on January 1, 2009. This
will make shopping even more convenient for tourists to Slovakia.
The Slovak Republic is currently a member of the European
community and a participant in the Schengen agreement. As such,
visitors can travel freely to Slovakia from most EU countries without having
to pass through customs.
